Jo Stealey brings together her background of ceramics, weaving and paper making in her current work. She creates constructions often suggestive of ritual objects that appear to contain magical vessels. The scenarios she builds beg the viewer to explore and find the hidden elements behind doors and windows and inside “rooms” in her structures. “More and more the vessel is a visual voice which reflects my reverence for ritual objects, ancient religious traditions, and what actually lies beyond the physical plane in which we live.” Jo’s pieces are always rich in texture with soft gentle colors found in nature.
