Karen’s love of color and design is evident in every weaving. Her tapestries are filled with subtle gradations, luminosity and gentle movement. Benjamin states, “The colors that I create in the dye pot are the result of my desire to use color to give the illusion of light, depth and transparency in the completed piece.” Her vocabulary of symbols encompasses Southwestern, European and tribal styles. However, Karen freely translates this information into her own images and patterns.
