Rebecca Medel

For twenty years, Rebecca Medel has been using the ancient technique of knotted netting as the basis for all of her fiber work. In her work she explores ideas of time and space, mathematics, symbolism, and metaphysics. Her work has been included in group exhibitions nationally and internationally and she has had solo shows of her work at the North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks, the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, N.Y. Among her awards and honors are two Artists' Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, an NEA Regional Fellowship for emerging artists, and a Bronze Medal from the Triennial of Tapestry in Lodz, Poland. She received her B.F.A. from Arizona State University and her M.F.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Ms. Medel is currently on faculty at Tyler School of Art.
